The Omaha Professional Fire Fighters Association (OPFFA) asked Albers Communications to work with them on a communications strategy to:

  • Grow the percentage of Omahans who approve of the job they are doing
  • Maintain and grow support among Omahans for OPFFA platforms
  • Reinforce important core messages to change misperceptions about the OPFFA

In addition to helping the OPFFA develop a traditional media plan, including conducting research, developing message points, media training their spokespeople and creating a pipeline of positive messages to share with the media, Albers saw digital marketing as a key way to help the OPFFA achieve their goals. The resounding engagement on their Facebook page, including a 344 percent increase in Likes over a three-month period, and the popularity of the OPFFA website, which receives about 1,000 unique visitors a quarter, are evidence of the support the community has shown for the organization.

By providing and implementing recommendations for social media strategies, including regular, targeted posts to their Facebook and Twitter pages, we have helped the OPFFA improve their reach significantly. In fact, our ability to quickly post and Tweet about local fires while they are still in progress has led to several new relationships between the OPFFA and local media.
